The fact is this, many moons ago we designed our own CMS, it was pretty good. but it wasn't as good as Drupal, which rather than written by a team of 7 super talents was written by a team of hundreds of super talents over many years.
If your looking for a CMS you would be crazy to pay for bespoke code when Drupal is free and open source.
